She's 4 Years Old!

Yesterday our little girl turned 4! Amy is getting so big and "grown up". I remember the day we brought her home. She was so tiny! Now she is such a little lady. . . er, tomboy! :-) She loves butterflies and the color purple. The kids get to pick what they want for supper on their birthday. Amy picked corn dogs and chips. She wanted a purple car (one of those motorized cars that you can ride). She saw one at Wal-mart and decided that's what she wanted for her birthdya. She agreed to settle for a purple bike. Amy is such a special part of our family! Happy Birthday, Amy!

Dr. Seuss Day

March 2 was Dr. Seuss' birthday so we did Dr. Seuss Day at school. We started off with Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast. Then in school we did a Dr. Seuss word puzzle. We also made Oobleck. That was interesting! For Reading class we went to the library and picked up 3 Dr. Seuss books. Then, of course, we had to read some. The kids had fun! They really liked the Oobleck and it was nice for them to do something out of the ordinary in school. Here are a few pictures of our day. See below for a recipe for Oobleck.

Cameron and Clayton love it when I make this.
It's been awhile since I made them so the boys were really excited.
Oobleck!
I'm sure glad that this stuff doesn't really fall from the sky!
Reading class.
Reading is fun--especially Dr. Seuss!

Cub Scouts

Cameron and Clayton both received their rank badges in Cub Scouts last Friday night. They worked hard to achieve these badges. Clayton is officially a Tiger Cub. Cameron is now a Bear Cub. Clayton also received a belt loop. Cameron received an arrow head. I forgot to take pictures of those so I will have to post them later.

Cameron's den made tool boxes. They were able to show them at the Pack Meeting. This Pack Meeting was the annual Blue and Gold Banquet (a.k.a. Happy Birthday, Boy Scouts of America). They always have a drawing for neat things for the Cub Scouts. Clayton won a tackle box. He was thrilled to actually win something!

Art Class

Cameron and Clayton made place mats in art class this past week. The photos are of Alaska wildlife that we have seen and taken pictures of ourselves. All of them were in the wild except for the musk ox (that was at the AK Wildlife Conservation Center).

Cool Websites

For all of you home school moms out there, I found a really neat website called Math Facts Cafe. You can print pre-made math worksheets or build your own. They have a lot of options--all of your math operations including Time and Money. I used it to help Cameron learn his multiplication tables. I like our math curriculum but don't really care for their system for learning the times tables so I did my own thing. Once I found Math Facts Cafe that was my main source for Math class. I have added this site to the link list over on the right. Check out the list for more new sites in the future!
