The boys have a book called Stone Soup. It is a story about 3 soldiers who are on a long journey. No one has food or lodging for them. Soon they come to a village where all the peasants are afraid of strangers. Because of this they all hide their food and give various excuses as to why they can't help the soldiers. So the soldiers decide to make "stone soup".
One day in school I decided to do something different for Reading. I read this story to them and then we made Stone Soup. The boys were so excited as they have been wanting to cook Stone Soup ever since they first read the story! It actually tasted pretty good (I wasn't so sure how it would turn out)! Here are the end results.
