This past week our family has had to say "goodbye" to 2 dearly loved family members. First, Grammy Hill passed away last Thursday (one week ago today). Although she was my "grandma-in-law" she was still very much "Grammy" to me. She always had a hug for us. Every time we'd visit she'd hug the boys and sing "I love you a bushel and a peck". Until the very end, she still laughed about Warren and I hugging Mom at the lake. (Let's just say that when 2 people have been in the lake then bear-hug the 3rd person, that 3rd person gets very wet!) I have lots of good memories of being at her house. She is missed very much by us all!
Then the following Saturday, we lost Pappy Wade. Wades came to my home church the summer before I was born. They pastored our church for 10 years. They were more than just a pastor, they were the grandparents I never knew. Some of my first memories are of Pappy and Grammy Wade. They loved us and gave us Godly examples to live by. As a child, I remember riding in the church van with Pappy to pick up the older women for church. I'd ride on the motor! (Makes me feel old to realize that I can remember a time when seat belts and car seats weren't an issue!) One snowy December day my brother and sisters and I were at the Wades when we all decided to go on a picnic. We grabbed some hot chocolate and I don't know what all then we were off to the park. We even played snow baseball! Our oldest son is named after him. Pappy is sorely missed but we know where he is! He is rejoicing with Jesus tonight!
Needless to say this past week has been a little tough. While our hearts ache with our losses I am reminded of how blessed we have been. God has blessed our family with wonderful grandparents! I know my life is better because of Grampy and Grammy Hill and Pappy and Grammy Wade.
