A New Year

Happy New Year!  We are now 3 days into 2009.  Do you remember when the year 2000 sounded like really funny and so far into the future?  Now here we are 9 years past that milestone!  I guess there are lots of things one could say at this time of the year.  I don't want to sound trite so just let me say this.  We had a good 2008.  A few highlights from the year:  my brother, Harry, and then our friends, Byron and Julie, came to visit; Nicholas' adoption; Ashley arrived safely and healthy.  We have seen God at work in our family.  He has been there in the good and the not so good times.  What will 2009 bring us?  Well, I don't rightly know.  I could go into the "what ifs" or the scary possibilities but I'm not going to do that.  I do know that whatever the future holds God is still in control and He has not forgotten us.  I look forward to another good year in 2009.

Our New Year's Eve was spent with our good friends the Carters.  Our boys really look up to the Carter kids.  Warren and I couldn't ask for better role models for our kids than the Carters.  So they came for supper and then we visited and played a game.  It was an enjoyable evening!  I am so thankful for good friends.  New Year's Day we stayed home and didn't do much other than housework and the like.  Today was much the same.  I guess I should say yesterday since it is technically Saturday morning.  Nicholas and Amy are having their turn to spend the night and Grandma and Papa's house.  They were so excited to go.  They even have their own sleeping bags so they think they are really big stuff!  :-)

Things are starting to slow down at the hospital so maybe Warren will be able to stop and take a breath.  The OR team has been working themselves into exhaustion but not by choice.  Warren had some time off last week and this week too.  I've enjoyed the extra time with him and he has enjoyed the chance to rest.

It's late, or early depending on how you look at it, and time I brought this post to a close.  We wish you all a great 2009!
